Kevin Durant‘s pending free agency has been a major storyline and will continue to be until he makes his ultimate decision: to play in OKC for the remainder of his prime or to move his talents to cities (and major markets) like his hometown of Washington D.C. or even Oakland. In the meantime, KD is content on competing for a title in Oklahoma City and he has the Nike KD 8s to prove it. Nike Basketball has always focused on vibrant looks when it comes to KD’s signature model. The silhouettes of past have always been keen on attracting interest from kids, but with a Flywave woven upper on the KD 8, it seems that this year’s model has grown up (the $180 price point is proof of this too). A combination of Ocean Fog, Midnight Navy, and Photo Blue dominate the upper while a vibrant orange holds down the unique outsole to continue the Thunder theme. The whole ‘KD’s Not Nice‘ was a short-lived campaign by Nike Basketball, but perhaps they’re revisiting that theme with this upcoming Nike KD 8. Sure, Kevin Durant is most likely getting a more vibrant colorway for the NBA’s upcoming Christmas Showcase, but this murdered out KD 8 is perfect for those misbehaving all year. The combination of Black/Black-Dark Grey-Cool Grey is a nice representation of the one gift you don’t want from Santa – lumps of coal. The Flyweave upper exudes the usual array of interlacing lines with Cool Grey and Dark Grey making up most of the upper. The outsole features a marbled pattern for a nice change of pace in what promises to be the simplest colorway of Durant’s eighth signature model yet. Check out more photos below and know that this pair drops on December 16th for $180. Lookout for the Nike KD 8 “Blackout” right now on eBay. We haven’t seen a Nike Basketball “Christmas” sneaker this intimidating possibly ever. The whole “KD Is Not Nice” campaign was one cut short by a season filled with injuries for Kevin Durant, but perhaps Nike is revitalizing that slogan for December 25th with the introduction of the Nike KD 8 “Christmas”. You can find these on-feet when KD and company take on the Chicago Bulls. A clean white woven upper skips out on the usual array of lines for a simple yet refined look inspired by fire, ice, and burning charcoal. This allows for the accents of Bright Crimson to clash with a cracked Safari-esque print on the molded mudguard and heel while the medial side features a contrasting black and red graphic that’s as ominous as it is head-turning. Check out the best look below and know that this KD 8 will be available on December 26th for $200.
